Each year, the YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange brings together youth and communities across the country. This year, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs were lucky enough to have three amazing students from Quebec come and work in three of our clubs.
These students – who are participating in a 6 week national exchange program – can be found helping in all sorts of ways at our Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs Martin Avenue Club, Lake Country Club, and Rutland Club. They are learning about themselves, discovering the beautiful Okanagan Valley, getting great work experience, developing their English skills, and having a ton of fun doing so!
The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange hopes that youth will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills during their exchange, and we believe that our students have learned from us. However, we also believe that we have learned from them. It is a privilege to see our exchange students involving themselves in the clubs, and the impact that they make in our childrens’, youths’, and staffs’ lives will live on, even after our students have returned to Quebec.
So thank you. Thank you to YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange for working to pair youth with us. Thank you to our clubs for opening their doors to exchange students. And thank you to our students, whose hard work and contribution have helped make this summer a great one!
