On February 14th, 2017 five UBCO students came to Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs Lake Country for United Way Days of Caring. These students went above and beyond what was expected of them and still wanted to help even when their time was finished!
The students baked muffins and pancakes for kids at the club. They also deep cleaned the entire kitchen and re-arranged furniture in the program rooms. When asked about why they decided to volunteer, one of the students said: “Extra hands are important when working with little hands.”
The enthusiasm of the students was much appreciated. “They were so excited to help and they demonstrated incredible teamwork,” said Lake Country Centre Director Tobilynn Siemens. “We want to thank Jeremy from United Way and Lori from UBC Okanagan for sending us such fantastic volunteers.”
Days of Caring are expressions of the power of volunteering! United Way connects groups of volunteers with service projects at local charities.
