Wow! What a amazing Pink Shirt Day!
At the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs we started the day of bright and early with our 2nd Annual TELUS Pink shirt Day Breakfast. Breakfast was prepared by the Okanagan College Culinary Arts Department, food donated by Sysco Kelowna, McDonald's, and DAVIDsTea. The room looked beautiful thanks to Glitz N' Glam, who donated time and all the decorating supplies and sounded great thank to SW Audio who helped us with the sound. Mayor Colin Basran proclaimed the day "Pink Shirt Day-Kindness Day" and Leah Goldstein shared her jaw dropping message about "No Limits". Kaleena Cakes donated treats for all 200 participants who came out to share the morning with us. Several donations were made, including from Disney Interactive, McDonald's, and Linda Edgecombe and Beth Hanishewski from a Really Good Life. David Wilkins from TELUS introduced a great new website to help keep your family and your community safer online. Click here to check it out.
ShawTV Okanagan came out to spend some time with the kids and staff from Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs in the North who learned about "warm fuzzies and cold pricklies". Everyday we work with children, youth and families to learn the importance of kindness, compassion, empathy and self confidence. Today the kids committed to some Pink Promises!
There was so much going on it was hard to keep up. Panago came by with Pizza for the kids at the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs - Martin Ave. Valley Medical Laboratories made a cash donation from fundraising efforts done by their staff.
So many businesses and individuals came together to show their kindness and commitment to ending bullying. It was a day that made anyone proud to say they lived in a community that cares.
Here are some images from across the valley.
Thank you Okanagan for sharing Pink Shirt Day with us.
