Transportation obstacles can make it difficult for parents to provide their kids with the best opportunities. Even getting to and from school safely can be difficult for a family struggling with transportation. Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs (OBGC) removes transportation obstacles for parents by providing safe transportation for kids before and after school.
Jiffy Lube Kelowna has been helping OBGC remove transportation barriers since 2014 with a variety of in-kind donations. They have donated oil changes, fuel injections, and vehicle fleet service. These donations support the OBGC Transportation and Facilities Department, which cares for vehicles and distributes them to Clubs across the valley. Most recently, Jiffy Lube has donated $10 000 of services to OBGC.
Jiffy Lube Kelowna supports OBGC because they believe in its Mission. “Kids and youth should have access to fun activities and care,” said Colin Friess of Jiffy Lube. “These opportunities are an important part of growing up and we know Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs provides fantastic programs and outings.”
“Out-trips,” or OBGC’s version of field trips, give kids and youth opportunities to enjoy the communities they live in. Staff members drive Club Members to hiking trails, museums, beaches, and many other fun locations. These Out-trips often include an educational component in which staff or community members teach Club Members something new about the community.
Thank you, Jiffy Lube Kelowna, for helping us bring young people to our Clubs and out into the community!
