Okanagan wineries have a variety of interesting stories to share. the hatch has a story that is particularly resonant to our organization. Years ago, a teen named Paul had a moment of recklessness and sped into a vineyard. Fortunately, Paul was given a second chance and he grew up to be a skilled artist. Coincidentally, the hatch asked Paul to create the art for their brand. Paul was shocked to learn that the vineyard he had landed in years ago was a part of the winery he was working with. This is one of many stories that contributes to the hatch’s unique reputation.
the hatch has also garnered a reputation for producing excellent wines that are just as lively as their brand. You can try these wines and experience full hatch hospitality at their anniversary celebration. 491 days of hatch is taking place on October 2nd from 2-5PM.
There will be bouncy castles, toys, and unfermented grape tastings for kids, so families can enjoy the event together. Industry and wine club members can have a private barrel tasting and be the first members of the public to try the Black Swift and clone series Pinot Noirs. All guests can partake in by-donation tastings and food. Local band Sedona will be playing music throughout the day.
the hatch is giving one hundred percent of food and tasting donations to Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs’ Webber Road location, which provides a safe place for kids and teens to belong. While most of our programs are aimed at preventing youth from getting into trouble in the first place, there are many circumstances that lead youth to make regrettable decisions. Many of our programs help youth understand the consequences of their actions without resorting to punitive measures. Like the people who helped Paul years ago, we believe in second chances.
We are grateful to the hatch for supporting young people and for including them in their community celebration. The hatch is located at 3225 Boucherie Road in West Kelowna. We hope to see you at this fun event!
