“My job with the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs has become so much more than a job for me… I have become immersed in an organization whose contribution to the community is vast and whose work I am passionate about. Being in the administration for the organization, I am not often on the front lines; however, the stories that I hear from those who are providing programs and services within our community, as well as the stories of those whom the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs support have shown to me that the work that we (as an organization) are doing is truly making a difference in the community.
A large part of my job is related to fundraising for the club, and understanding now how much of a need there is for the programs and services we offer, combined with the cost of providing those programs and services, I feel like every time I am able to get some more support for the club, no matter how big or small, I have contributed to making a difference in the lives of all those people who rely on us. Perhaps the most surprising thing that I’ve learned about the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs is how many people from all walks of life do rely on us. We offer such an array of programs and services, that now when I’m asked what exactly we do it takes me about 5 minutes to list all of the amazing work that’s going on."
