Capital One Race for Kids Raises over $26,000 for the Kids

This past Saturday, May 28th, the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs hosted the 5th Annual Capital One Race for Kids. We 20 teams of 4 adults racing throughout the city completing clues and checkpoint was a sight to see. The costumes, the energy  and the commitment to raising funds to support the kids in our community was outstanding.

Teams had 3 hours to decipher 10 clues to help them identify the 10 locations to complete challenges at. From squirting guns at Waterplay, stand-up paddling and word scrambles at Kelowna Paddle Centre, I Spy at Troika, snow suite dressing at Big White's office, tasting wing flavours at Wings-Kelowna, pinning the logo on the poster at Canadian Brewhouse, Wordles at Sprott Shaw, the obstacle course at Karma Yoga, shopping at Your Independent Grocer and the memory game at Old Spaghetti Factory, participants were involved in some wild and wacky fun. 

Top Finishers

  1. The Rat Pack in 1st place at 11:52;
  2. MACC Attack at 12:08 and
  3. Catalyst Crusaders at 12:19pm. Trophy Wives were awarded the best costumes in their gold outfits.

Top Team and Individual Fundraiser

  1. Catalyst Crusader Team raised over $5400.
  2. Michael Grundy from Catalyst Crusaders raised $4897 ensuring he was the one to win the WestJet Voucher for two given to the top individual fundraiser of the event.

A special thank you goes to Rena Krell from McDonald's and Tony Crescenzo from Kal Tire for their time at the race and keeping our participants fed.Thanks to all the participants, sponsors, volunteers and donors.

Together we are changing lives everyday........ The efforts of all of those who participated and were involved with this year's event are helping ensure our children, youth and families have a safe place to belong to discover, dream and grow to be successful in life. All proceeds of the event will go directly back to supporting programs for young people after school.
