The Amalgamated Transit Union #1722 has a long and proud history as part of the community in the Central Okanagan. They are the Bus drivers, Custom transport drivers (Handi-dart) maintenance team and clerical group that runs the transit system for the Central Okanagan and although they have always given back to the community there really was no regular arrangement or charities that they have partnered with to do that.
The new President of the local, Scott Lovell, wants to change that. He believes in the importance of helping and says "he is grateful to be able to make a donation of $329 to the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs".
Through a small golf tournament 2 weeks ago, the Transit Team raised money and decided they'd like to donate it to a charity supporting the kids in our community.
"We truly appreciate the Amalgamated Transit Union #1722 and their generosity and willingness to give back to the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. Donations like this ensure that we are able to give the kids in our community a safe place to belong where they can experience new opportunities, create friendships, learn to be leaders and become adults who help out their community too" says Richelle Leckey, Community Engagement Coordinator, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs.
Thank you to the Amalgamated Transit Union #1722 for giving our Okanagan Kids a Great Future!
